Algebraic Totality, towards Completeness

چکیده
Finiteness spaces constitute a categorical model of Linear Logic whose objects can be seen as linearly topologised spaces, (a class of topological vector spaces introduced by Lefschetz in 1942) and morphisms as continuous linear maps. First, we recall definitions of finiteness spaces and describe their basic properties deduced from the general theory of linearly topologised spaces. Then we give the interpretation of LL with an algebraic approach. Second, thanks to separation properties, we can introduce an algebraic notion of totality candidate in the framework of linearly topologised spaces: a totality candidate is a closed affine subspace which does not contain 0. We show that finiteness spaces with totality candidates constitute a model of classical LL. Finally, we give a barycentric simply typed lambda-calculus, with booleans B and a conditional operator, which can be interpreted in this model. We prove completeness at type B → B for every n by an algebraic method.

متن کاملLinear Logic, Totality and Full Completeness
I give a ‘totality space’ model for linear logic [4], derived by taking an abstract view of computations on a datatype. The model has similarities with both the coherence space model and game-theoretic models [1, 5], but is based upon a notion of total object. Using this model, I prove a full completeness result, along the lines of the results for game theoretic models in [1] and [5]. In other ...
متن کاملCompleteness results for metrized rings and lattices
The Boolean ring $B$ of measurable subsets of the unit interval, modulo sets of measure zero, has proper radical ideals (for example, ${0})$ that are closed under the natural metric, but has no prime ideal closed under that metric; hence closed radical ideals are not, in general, intersections of closed prime ideals. Moreover, $B$ is known to be complete in its metric. Togethe...
متن کاملA Mahlo-universe of effective domains with totality
We construct a typed hierarchy of effective algebraic domains with totality of height the first recursively Mahlo ordinal. The hierarchy is based on the empty type and the domains for singleton, boolean values and natural numbers, and it is closed under dependent sums and pro-ducts of effectivly parameterised families of types, and under universes closed under a very general universe operator.
متن کاملStrictness, totality, and non-standard-type inference
In this paper we present two non-standard-type inference systems for conjunctive strictness and totality analyses of higher-order-typed functional programs and prove completeness results for both the strictness and the totality-type entailment relations. We also study the interactions between strictness and totality analyses, showing that the information obtainable by a system that combines the...
